Azelis expands its African presence

The MD of Azelis Ivory Coast, Michel HaidonAzelis, a leading global distributor of speciality chemicals, has opened a new office in Abidjan, the economic capital and largest city of Ivory Coast. This represents Azelis’ continued commitment to investing in Africa, ensuring the company has ample room for its planned growth over the next few years.

Azelis has had a presence in Africa since June 2015, when the company founded its first subsidiary in Africa, Azelis Morocco.

Growth strategy in Africa

Benoit Fritz, regional MD for France and Africa, comments: ‘This office opening comes at a time when we are actively expanding our reach across the region. Ivory Coast is uniquely positioned with a strong outlook for future growth. We will leverage the Azelis Group’s application knowledge and technical expertise to develop solutions that are relevant to local market needs and unmet demands.’

Azelis Ivory Coast – the Abidjan office – will be headed by MD Michel Haidon, who previously held the position of market manager for Africa and Israel at a French dairy company. Prior to that, Haidon was employed as the market manager at a leading global ingredients solutions company.

Job creation on the continent

‘Azelis will be a perfect partner for the region, offering localised services while retaining the advantage of a global network with a broad product portfolio and teams of dedicated industry specialists,’ comments Haidon. ‘We will employ technical people from the region, and we’ll have a regional warehouse and application laboratory to focus on customers’ needs in West Africa, enabling us to meet the increasing demand from the emerging middle class.’

Initially Azelis will focus on speciality ingredients for the personal care, and food and health care markets. Experienced teams from Azelis France will guide sales development efforts and offer technical support.

The company is also planning to expand into the area of specialty agriculture/horticulture.
