Learn how to lead and succeed in the competitive world of beauty at the P&C Review 2020 Beauty Benchmarks & Innovation Think Tank. The conference will feature presentations on claims and INCI listing dos and don’ts, social media and influencer marketing, access to funding and financial wellness, bricks versus clicks and the rise of e-commerce, sustainability, and megatrends and new consumer insights.
Sustainability and e-commerce
To encourage sustainability in the South African beauty industry, joint managing director of Extrupet, Chandru Wadhwani will discuss global trends and the sustainability measures that can be applied locally. He will also delve into how to develop and maintain a sustainable brand and provide insight into the local resources available for implementing recyclable packaging.
Rob Maclean of eCommerce Experts, the official Shopify experts, will weigh up the pros and cons of e-commerce and how to build and launch user-friendly, engaging and successful Shopify sites. Maclean and his team have built over 80 eCommerce websites for local and international customers, including many in the beauty and cosmetics industry.
Exploring Africa and compliant claims
Sharing his vast experience in launching and developing FMCG brands in African markets, Raymond Chimhandamba, founder and director of Handas Consulting, will share a high-level presentation on distribution channels, mobile tech trends and how cosmetics and beauty brands can utilise these to capture new markets in Africa.
L’Oréal South Africa’s scientific and regulatory affairs advisor, Percy Sibanda is back on the speaker line up for the 2020 conference. Percy will lead a much-needed discussion on how to keep your claims in check while leveraging your product’s formulation ingredients for success. He will also help attendees understand the intricacies associated with cruelty free and natural and organic claims and how to structure and declare ingredients correctly on an INCI list.
Social media and influencer marketing
Samantha Fletcher, partner and client service director at G&G Digital, will be joined by Chiara di Rago, G&G Digital’s PR account manager, and a leading social media influencer, Tamryn Sher (@tamryn_sher), who works with local and international brand owners. Together this dynamic trio will focus on social media strategies for beauty brands and influencer marketing.
Their presentation will close with a panel discussion, giving the audience a chance to share their views and get expert feedback on any queries they may have regarding how to navigate a winning social media strategy, which is sure to get their beauty products into influencers hands and ultimately the hands of loads of consumers.

Access to finance is one of the biggest obstacles to the survival and growth of start-ups and small and medium businesses.
