After a five year sabbatical, Alan Rahme has made a comeback to the personal care industry as national sales director of Bragan Chemicals (Bragan). The company was started 10 years ago by Craig and Julie Taylor and has made huge strides as a premium ingredient and additive supplier, growing significantly as a result of the quality of service and products it offers at the right price.
Rolfes Group, a JSE listed company, acquired the Bragan brand in 2015, making Bragan a significant partner in the various industries it serves. Nathan Bevis was appointed MD of the company in 2017, bringing his extensive industry knowledge to the business to ensure it reaches greater heights while Rahme will add value to the Bragan brand.
Rahme’s experience in growing successful companies combined with his service-orientated attitude will assist Bragan in successfully re-entering the personal care industry. In April, he visited in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam to rekindle relationships with various principles. ‘It was great to see many of my old friends who are keen to give Bragan the opportunity to market their products into Africa,’ Rahme comments.
Bragan has had significant success in export markets, servicing all sub-Saharan African countries as far north are Kenya and the DRC. This is made possible through its infrastructure in South Africa, including its head office in Johannesburg and branches in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
Bragan also recently achieved ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and is BBBEE compliant.
It will be challenging to break into the market, but Rahme believes with his 18 years’ industry experience, he can achieve success for Bragan in personal care. The company also recently appointed a personal care sales rep, Musa Sabinda, who joined the team in July.
‘I am so excited to be back in the industry,’ Rahme exclaims. ‘All my business relationships with principles and customers were built on friendship and I cherish these bonds, which make it feel like I’ve never left the industry.’
