  Symrise is strengthening its presence in Latin America and has opened its Center of Excellence near São Paulo, which was built over the course of about 12 months. It will combine the research and development work which has until now been carried out at two different locations; in addition, it closely links R&D to market research, sales and marketing activities of both divisions. The aim is to strengthen and foster the development of products tailored specifically for the Latin American market. Symrise has invested approximately € 12 million in the Center of Excellence, which is around three times larger than the old facility.

Adcock Ingram has bought a portfolio of about 60 medicines and a distribution network from India’s Cosme Farma Laboratories. The R86-million deal sees Adcock acquire the marketing assets of the Cosme Farma group. ‘In line with our growth strategy, we have identified India as a key growth market in which to position ourselves for the sustainability and diversification of the business, and this transaction sees us take a step towards realising that strategy,’ said Deputy CEO and Financial Director, Andy Hall. ‘This is a large domestic market with an emerging middle class which will be a major driver of economic growth in the country and we are looking to tap into that growth and extend our reach into the Indian market.’
