Bruce Dennison was voted in as Chairman of the Health Products Association of Southern Africa at the association’s AGM held on Thursday July 5th 2012. Dennison has now retired from Vital Health Foods where he was joint Managing Director. He has also been Vice President of the International Alliance of Dietary Supplement Associations (IADSA) based in Brussels and is currently starting his own consultancy business, offering his outstanding knowledge both locally and internationally to companies that wish to be advised in this area. Dennison was one of the founder members of the HPA and is well experienced in all matters pertaining to the Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAMS) industry. The HPA also voted in its Executive Council for the 2012/2013 period.
The association will be concentrating this year particularly on the manufacturers of CAMS products and the importers of raw materials to ensure that they are informed on all matters pertaining to their accreditation to manufacture and/ or import. The expected CAMS regulations are expected to focus on genetically modified products and stability, and it is extremely important that manufacturers and importers of raw materials ensure that their facilities abide by these rules and regulations. The HPA intends setting up a series of workshops to assist manufacturers/importers to assist them in upgrading their facilities.
