Entries are open for the 2017 New Product Competition

Entries for the 2017 Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Review/Symrise New Product Competition (NPC) are now open. Entry forms are now available here.

Encouraging innovation in cosmetics and household development is one of the main drivers behind the New Product Competition (NPC), which is now in its tenth year. The aim of the competition is to give local and international brands, who supply the South African market, the opportunity to showcase their innovative new products.

This competition not only offers a platform to showcase products – launched from 1 January 2016 and up to 31 May 2017 – but also promises vast exposure for entrants and winners. The overall winner will win a trip to in-cosmetics global 2018, the leading global business platform for personal care and cosmetics ingredients. The prize includes flights, accommodation and entry into the exhibition.

Each product is independently evaluated by our panel of expert judges – all highly regarded experts in formulation, marketing, regulations and packaging for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries – and entrants will receive a comprehensive, professional and unbiased assessment of their product at the end of the competition.

The glamorous awards function will be hosted in October 2017, where trophies will be presented to the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up in the following categories:

Products will also receive invaluable exposure and publicity in the form of write-ups in Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Review and other affiliated trade media, along with online exposure on the magazine’s website as well as at our prestigious awards function.

Placecol’s Illuminé took the top prize as overall winner for 2016. One of its team members will be attending in-cosmetics global 2017, taking place from 4 to 6 April in London, England.

The competition

Now in its 10th year, the NPC aims to give local and international brands that are supplied on the South African market, an opportunity to showcase their innovative new products.

The sponsor

The competition is sponsored by Symrise, a global supplier of fragrances and flavourings (F&F), cosmetic active ingredients and raw materials as well as functional ingredients. With a market share of 12 percent in 2015, Symrise is one of the world’s top three suppliers in the F&F market. Approximately 30 000 of its products are primarily produced from natural raw materials including vanilla, citrus, blossoms or plant materials. Its flavours, substances and perfume oils usually form the central functional components of the end products produced by its customers.
