AMA steers aerosol industry excellence for six decades

The AMA celebrated its 60^th anniversary with an AGM and luncheon hosted in Joburg on 28 June.

As the voice of South Africa’s strong and vibrant aerosol industry, the Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (AMA) acts on industry’s behalf on a variety of issues such as legislation, education and the setting of national standards. A vital function of the association is its interaction with other similar and relevant local and international organisations, government and NGOs.

In June, the AMA celebrated its 60^th anniversary. Members got together at the Johannesburg Country Club in Woodmead for the association’s AGM and luncheon, followed by a keynote presentation by Ayabonga Cawe, chief commissioner of the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC).

Cawe spoke about industrialisation over the years and how ITAC is committed to unlocking progress and opening new markets for manufacturers in South Africa. This is key to building a sustainable country, raising investment and reducing poverty.

Celebrating the honorary members

The 60^th anniversary and AGM also saw six individuals receiving honorary AMA member status. Over the years, Rudy Maclean, Chris Waldron, Philip Cloete, Gordon Howell and Peggy van Manen have provided outstanding support to the AMA on various matters, from training and skills development to sustainability and regulatory developments. They work tirelessly to impart their knowledge and skills on younger members and upcoming industry professionals, and are passionate about local aerosol manufacturing.
