This breakthrough, known as ‘Closing the Hydrogen Loop’, is a game-changer for decarbonisation in the cosmetics industry.
What is circular hydrogen recycling?
Circular hydrogen recycling is a process that captures, purifies and reuses hydrogen generated during production. Symrise implemented this technology in the manufacturing of Hydrolite® 5 green, a biobased pentylene glycol. By adopting this closed-loop system, Symrise has reduced its fresh hydrogen demand by approximately 80% and achieved a remarkable 98% hydrogen recovery rate.
