The Coschem Day took place on 18 August at the Clay Café, Red Barn, in Pretoria. The interactive event was well attended with guests enjoying the creative aspect of painting unfired bisque while networking in a fun and relaxed environment.

This year the Coschem Social Committee decided to liven up the Annual Ladies Day and try a new concept. Instead of the traditional sit-down luncheon and motivational platform it was proposed to visit the Clay Café. This was a very casual, fun day for all members giving people the time to catch up with colleagues whilst showcasing their creative flare.

Chair of the social committee, Charmaine Du Preez said: “While brainstorming with the rest of the team, we looked at other ideas that could be of interest and accessible to everyone. This idea came to mind as we wanted the event to be open to anyone from the industry and not only women.”

The Coschem Day also included a charity element. Guests were encouraged to bring along gently worn bras to donate to the Pink Drive. Well over 200 bras were collected.

Networking, creative flair and excellent food

110 guests attended the event and agreed that interactive session at the Clay Café was loads of fun and highly memorable. Guests, who were spoilt with a stunning goody bag of cosmetic products, said it was such a privilege to have quality time to catch up with colleagues, friends and professionals from the cosmetics industry.

The Coschem Day included a set menu of delicious catering. Guests got to choose from a vast array of unfired bisque and a wide selection of colourful paints to create a pottery masterpiece that is both personal and completely unique. Everyone spent a leisurely day painting in the beautiful Red Barn location. The friendly staff of the Clay Café were on hand to assist guests with any painting techniques and decorating advice.

A big thank you to the Coschem Social Committee for organising the event and packing the good bags. Thanks to all the sponsors and attendees, and to Bridget MacDonald who continues to provide immense support to all the committees as Coschem’s general secretary.

“The feedback from everyone was so positive – they loved the event. We are looking forward to hosting more interactive events in the future,” Charmaine added.
