Navigating export regulations can be challenging, especially with evolving requirements. From 1 July 2026, exporters to Ivory Coast must comply with the expanded mandatory PCA CI 71 conformity assessment. This update, governed by Decrees No. 2016-1152 and No. 2020-389, introduces new product categories and stricter compliance measures.
What is PCA CI 71?
PCA CI 71 is a conformity assessment programme designed to ensure that imported goods meet Ivory Coast’s safety and quality standards. The programme now covers 15 product families, including:
- Food products
- Electrical and electronic goods
- Building materials
- Machinery
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Chemicals (newly added)
- Cosmetics, personal care, and textile items (expanded categories)

Compliance requirements
If your product falls under the PCA CI 71 scope, obtaining a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is mandatory before shipment. The compliance is determined by the shipment date on the transport document, such as the Bill of Lading, Air Waybill, or road/rail document.
Exemptions
Certain items are exempt from PCA CI 71, including:
- Precious metals and stones
- Live animals
- Fresh produce
- Diplomatic imports
