BASF has recently expanded its sustainable emollient production capabilities with the inauguration of a new state-of-the-art plant in Düsseldorf.

BASF’s new facility is dedicated to producing specialty emollients for skin care and sun protection products, addressing the growing demand in European and global cosmetics markets.

The investment, valued in the mid double-digit million-euro range, is the largest in Düsseldorf in the past decade. It highlights BASF’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, enabling the development of eco-friendly personal-care formulations, including emollients derived from renewable raw materials. Emollients bind and help retain skin moisture while improving the sensory profile of personal care products.
