Botanichem is a female-owned business that believes in the significance of empowering young women in the cosmetics industry. Robyn Brown says the company has employed three interns over the years to give them the best training on offer, improving their skills and helping them gain the knowledge needed to succeed in the cosmetics industry.

Botanichem is also committed to helping female entrepreneurs achieve their dream of formulating and launching a product range that works. Robyn explains that the doors are wide open for emerging female entrepreneurs who have a passion for the beauty industry.
“We are a women-run company and only employ women to ensure our philosophy of uplifting women is a holistic and passed onto our customers and suppliers,” she comments.
Encouraging rest and relaxation
To celebrate Women’s Day on 9 August, Botanichem’s staff are gifted vouchers to spoil themselves in a way they wouldn’t normally.
“As women we are responsible for so much, from managing our homes, families, parents and children to earning a living. We believe that sometimes we need a rest, so we encourage our staff and all women to ‘go on strike’ in their households on Women’s Day and to allow their family to treat them as a heroine,” she adds.
Be inspired by others and never stop learning
Robyn has worked in the cosmetics industry for 30 years and to this day, she says she is still learning. She has followed her passion and made it happen, and advises any woman interested in a career in this industry to do the same.

“You are responsible for your own destiny – voice it and make it happen,” she says. “On a more practical note, it’s worthwhile to join industry societies such as Coschem and CTFA, and to follow other inspirational women in the industry, like The Cosmetics Chef. Read her book, learn as much as possible from her journey and just be inspired by all she has achieved.”
