A closer look at the product range
Made from European-sourced wheat-based glucose, European-sourced sunflower oil, and/or coconut oil or certified palm oil (under the RSPO Mass Balance standard), these glucamides are readily biodegradable and represent no hazard to aquatic life. In addition, they are COSMOS certified and meet the requirements of the EU Ecolabel as well as the stricter criteria of the Nordic Ecolabel.
Currently, there are five sugar surfactants within the family. Each is characterised by its sustainability, mildness and skin compatibility. The GlucoTain EO-free and sulfate-free ingredients are readily biodegradable products with a 94% to 96% RCI (Renewable Carbon Index), a high content of non-tropical biomass and a good eco-tox profile.
GlucoTain innovative solutions clean gently, provide improved thickening results and deliver stable foam. GlucoTain helps you formulate by making it easy to attain the right viscosity, without salt. Particularly in sulfate-free platforms, where thickening formulations can be a major hurdle, GlucoTain outperforms other standard mild surfactants.
Tests show that the mildness, sensory, thickening and foam properties of GlucoTain not only compare favourably to market alternatives, but also offer additional advantages. GlucoTain offers extra mildness in comparison to SLES and CAPB and is as mild as APGs.
Favourable, traceable ingredient alternatives
GlucoTain Clear and GlucoTain Plus can be used as foam-boosting additives for practically any formulation and even as a primary surfactant. GlucoTain Flex is a particularly efficient thickener, enabling significant cost savings and contributing to achieving a creamier sensation and moisturising nourishment for skin or hair.
The development of plant-based Glucamide surfactants goes beyond the introduction of a new sugar-based alternative for formulators. GlucoTain Sense, the newest member in the GlucoTain range, is based on 100% European-sourced sunflower oil and glucose. GlucoTain Sense is easy to adopt in rinse-off formulations by switching 1:1 with 1% of CAPB, resulting in an improved skin-feel, tuning of foam, no changes in active level and no change in viscosity at normal salt levels.

The experts start with a vigorous scrub of their hands, apply some of the selected product and then note their observations.
