Mentholatum SA brings Hada Labo Tokyo skin care line to South Africa

Japan’s number one selling essential and hydrating skin care line, Hada Labo Tokyo is now available at Clicks retail outlets countrywide, thanks to Mentholatum SA – a health and wellness company and one of South Africa’s top pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies.

Created in Japan by Rohto Pharmaceutical under the concept of “perfect and simple”, Hada Labo Tokyo promises highly effective skin care whilst eliminating all unnecessary ingredients and additives. Since its introduction in Japan in 2004, the brand has expanded to include more than 60 products and grown its distribution footprint to include several Asian countries as well as the UK and USA.

Based on a proprietary ingredient

Suitable for all skin types, it includes Super Hyaluronic Acid, a proprietary ingredient unique only to Hada Labo Tokyo.

“Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body which attracts and binds water (capable of holding up to 1 000 times its own weight in water). Although it is the secret to keeping skin hydrated, smooth, firm, and glowing, hyaluronic acid is depleted over time,” says Brewin.

When used in skin care products, it boosts moisture levels and helps the skin to regain and strengthen its natural hydrating ability and youthful qualities. It also has a plumping effect as skin is infused with moisture.

Double the hydration

“Super Hyaluronic Acid is a unique blend of three types of hyaluronic acid that have an outstanding ability to thoroughly moisturise the skin on different levels,” continues Brewin.

The minute size particles of Hyaluronic Acid Plus (HA+) molecules allows it to penetrate deep into the skin where it attracts water to provide double the amount of hydration of regular hyaluronic acid. The effect is the visible improvement in the condition of the skin which becomes firmer and smoother.

Micro Hyaluronic Acid (Micro HA) is built of longer disaccharide chains. This moisturising agent penetrates inside the skin and binds water to fill it from within. It provides hydration to different layers of the skin and visibly smooths its surface.

Macro Hyaluronic Acid (Macro HA) forms a hyaluronic matrix on the surface of the skin, preventing water from evaporating. This newest trend in hydration is called ‘lock-in-moist’ as it literally locks supplies of moisture inside the skin.
