The Sami-Sabinsa Group’s Hassan Unit 1 facility, Sami Nutraceuticals, has been assessed and found to comply with the NSF GMP Registration Program Requirements of NSF/ANSI 173, Section 8. This includes FSMA and cGMPs (21 CFR Part 111, 21 CFR Part 117) compliance, with the certificate issued by NSF on 19 June.
Shaheen Majeed, Sami-Sabinsa Global Managing Director and CEO, comments: “While this is the youngest factory, it by no means lacks the safety, quality and rigour required to produce the finest ingredients we have to offer. Now we can add the confirmation of regulatory compliance, which our customers expect from us. We appreciate the professionalism and hard work that this certification from NSF confirms.”

A world-class manufacturing facility
The new state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility was inaugurated on 17 March 2023 by the late Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Chairman and Founder, Sami-Sabinsa Group. This unit, which sprawls over an area of 10 acres, is the company’s eighth manufacturing facility. It has capacity to produce 88 tons of Active Nutraceutical Ingredients (ANIs) and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) per annum. It produces 23 different ANIs, APIs and intermediates, including Calebin-A, Resveratrol, SabiWhite®, Pterostilbene, Cosmoperine, 1, 2- Hexanediol, 1,2-Octanediol, Diindolylmethane (DIM), lndole-3-Carbinol, and Ferulic Acid, etc.
The world-class Hassan manufacturing facility is equipped with 18 reactors (including eight glass-line reactors), two hydrogenators, and other specialised equipment such as agitated nutsche filter dryers (ANFD), centrifuges, and Rotocone Vacuum Dryers. An important feature of the new facility is its Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) capability, which minimises the production-associated ecological footprint.
Sabinsa‘s Hassan facility has a clear location advantage and easy access to ports on the east and west coasts of India. The neighboring Hassan Unit 2 facility is currently under construction.
