Driving innovation in hair and scalp care

“Thanks to our shared business vision and development goals, the partnership with Bota Bio aligns with our leadership in innovation and underscores the pivotal role of biotechnology in the rapid expansion of our specialty ingredients portfolio,” said Thomas Canova, Head of Research & Innovation at Syensqo.

Through this agreement, Syensqo will leverage Bota Bio’s cutting-edge performance protein technology to drive innovation in hair and scalp care, with a focus on key concerns such as hair repair from within, or hair growth. Spearheaded by Syensqo’s Renewable Materials and Biotechnology Platform and our Beauty Business Unit, the collaboration will focus on developing high-performance biomimetic ingredients, drawing on Syensqo’s 40 years of expertise in hair care and growing emphasis on scalp care, with dedicated application development to accelerate market-ready solutions.

Leveraging partnerships in the value chain

The partnership originated with and was supported by Syensqo Ventures, the group’s function dedicated to accelerating innovation by identifying and collaborating with emerging startups. Syensqo Ventures and Bota Bio share a common view that transitioning cutting-edge technologies into sustainable applications requires partnerships across the value chain and between corporations and startups alike.

“Bota is actively engaged in developing advanced strains and optimising manufacturing processes to enhance the scalability of innovative hair care ingredients production. We are excited about this opportunity to define products leveraging Syensqo’s innovation heritage and expert knowledge,” added Dr Cheryl Cui, CEO at Bota Bio.

Syensqo will showcase its commitment to advancing biomaterials and biotechnologies at Hello Tomorrow Global Summit in Paris, France on 13 and 14 March as the exclusive sponsor of the Industrial Biotech and New Materials competition featuring startups with transformative solutions.
