Symrise inaugurates production facility in India

The new plant is a key addition to Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients global manufacturing portfolio to support its expansion plans and regional growth.

Symrise has opened its first manufacturing facility for cosmetic ingredients in Chennai, located in Tamil Nadu, India. The state-of-the-art plant will blend a wide range of high-quality ingredients for the Indian market. It represents an important milestone in Symrise’s growth strategy in the Asia-Pacific region. 

The site was officially opened with an inauguration ceremony on 3 September. Attendees from the Symrise management included Chung Sin Wong, Vice President of Cosmetic Ingredients, Asia Pacific; and Surya Lukito, Director of Cosmetic Ingredients, South Asia & SEAO; and Yohanna Sander, Vice President Micro Protection. 

The high-tech facility covers a total area of 1 788m². It will enable Symrise to better serve the growing Indian cosmetics market. In addition, it will strengthen the company’s position as a preferred supplier of actives, botanicals and micro protection ingredients to the industry. 

Strengthened global presence

Chung Sin Wong, Vice President of Cosmetic Ingredients, Asia Pacific, commented on the successful opening of the new site: “I feel optimistic about the opportunities that this addition to Symrise’s manufacturing portfolio will bring. Chennai represents more than a factory,” he said. “It forms a blueprint for sustainable growth and strategic expansion.”

This ambition is reflected in the innovative design of this multi-functional facility, which includes packaging and raw material storage capabilities in addition to its advanced blending facilities. 

Looking ahead, the Chennai site represents an important step in the company’s strategy to strengthen its global presence. It will help to enable it to better respond to local market trends and drive operational efficiency.
