SymEffectTM UV features a synergistic mixture of renewable ingredients to enhance the effectiveness of organic and mineral UV filters.

Shortlisted for the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award in the functionals category at in-cosmetics global 2023, cosmetics manufacturers can use SymEffectTM UV as a sun protection factor (SPF) enhancer in their products. It also improves the sustainability profile of sunscreens because of its natural raw material base.

With this product launch, Symrise is responding to industry and consumers needs in line with the sustainable sun care trend.

Help overcome formulation challenges

Mineral and organic UV filters form the foundation of sun protection products. Manufacturing high SPF sunscreens is quite challenging because it requires a high concentration of UV filters to achieve this task. Consumer expectation in terms of ‘acceptable’ UV filters can add to the challenge. To help manufacturers overcome these challenges, Symrise has developed SymEffectTM UV as a naturally based solution to enhance SPF. It enables cosmetics manufacturers to achieve higher protection using the same concentration of UV filters in a product with the in vivo tested ingredient.

The UV protection booster can be easily incorporated into the oil phase of creams and lotions. SymEffectTM UV works well with emulsion-based cosmetic products with sun protection factors, such as beach products, daily face creams and care products for children.
