Apoena Biotech debuts at in-cosmetics Global

The Brazilian company will launch new products and showcase its services in the field of bioprospecting and screening of biotech active ingredients.

Apoena Biotech, which produces biotech-based ingredients for cosmetics and personal care, is attending in-cosmetics Global for the first time as part of the Brazilian Pavilion. The company proposes to introduce potential paths in the adoption of bioprocess culture and the creation of an innovative and sustainable range of biotechnological products.

Anti-cellulite postbiotic active

APOBIO Slim is a postbiotic active produced by Lactobacillus, with anti-cellulite action and skin barrier protection. It has a lipolytic effect and increases the lipolysis process by 45%, aiding fat burning in cells and reducing cellulite, having similar efficacy to caffeine.

Ex vivo tests have proven that APOBIO Slim stimulates the gene responsible for adipogenesis inhibition (TNF) by 86%, in addition to gene expression stimulation linked to skin hydration and barrier protection (UGCG 72%; CASP14 78%, and SPTLC1 82%). Clinical trials have demonstrated a significant improvement in cellulite in 60% of the volunteer group after using the bioactive for 40 days.

APOBIO Slim is ideal for massage gels, anti-cellulite creams and slimming cream formulations.

Pro-ageing postbiotic active

APOBIO Skin is a pro-ageing active ingredient with a postbiotic effect. It smooths, firms and naturally hydrates skin with a 53% increase in hyaluronic acid synthesis proven by in vitro tests. This effect is achieved with the fermentation of Astragalus membranaceus, a medicinal plant used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and combined with Bacillus subtilis.

Ex vivo tests show a similar increase in hyaluronic acid synthesis in the treatment with retinoic acid and APOBIO Skin compared to baseline controls. Ex vivo studies demonstrate that the treatment with APOBIO Skin increased hyaluronic acid synthesis even after UV radiation exposure.

APOBIO Skin is ideal for moisturisers, facial creams, eye creams and serums.

Multifunctional biosurfactant

RAMNOCARE is a multifunctional biosurfactant with antioxidant and skin protective action. Its antioxidant action is shown in 90% free radical protection, which is similar to vitamin E analogue (Trolox).

It shows superior activity in skin barrier and skin hydration markers Aquaporin-3 (6.47x), Involucrin (2.26x) and Filaggrin (1.42x), favouring hydration, while improving skin’s resistance and supporting skin barrier formation. An ex vivo test has established its safety for sensitive skin.

RAMNOCARE may be used as a co-surfactant or substitute for traditional surfactants. It presents surfactant properties with superior stability when compared to sodium lauryl sulfate at the same concentration (1%). It is ideal for soap, shampoo, and makeup remover formulations (sulfate-free).
